The story of Zimbabwe’s brutal and catastrophic farm invasions
House of Justice
Gertrude Hambira, GAPWUZ secretary-general in 2009
“House of Justice” is chilling 3-part documentary produced by the General Agricultural and Plantation Workers’ Union of Zimbabwe (GAPWUZ) in 2009.
It is a compilation of secretly recorded footage of attacks during the takeovers of the country's productive white-owned commercial farms since 2000 and exposes the violent abuse of farm workers by President Mugabe’s militia.
After a series of raids, arrests and threats against the leaders of Zimbabwe's farm workers’ union, they were forced to go into hiding.
Prior to going into hiding and then leaving the country, Gertrude Hambira, the secretary-general of GAPWUZ, had been interrogated for two hours at police national headquarters by 17 senior officers of the Joint Operations Command (JOC). The unit combines the country's military, police and intelligence service and is known to direct the political strategy of Mugabe's Zanu (PF).
Hambira was told she would be jailed for the documentary, which showed farm workers being murdered and tortured by Mugabe's militias.
